Robert D. Brook, an assistant professor at the University of Michigan, the health department said that polluted air can trigger a heart attack or stroke.

An estimated one in three Americans have high blood pressure. University had made a study of 83 people who are exposed to similar air pollution to urban air conditions.

“We saw blood vessels and the response before and after breathing dirty air,” said Robert Bard, University of Michigan, research coodinator.

Since the study found, within two hours of air pollution has caused the low amount of blood in the body. Approximately 24 hours after the blood vessels begin to interfere.

The test results also showed small particles in the air cause increased blood pressure and affect blood vessel function.

“If air pollution levels are high, those who have experienced heart problems, diabetes or lung should avoid outdoor activities,” said Brook.
